CREATING YOUR SACRED SPACE

With our busy everyday stressful schedules, we sometimes forget to nurture and honor Self.   We all need a little space and time to ourselves.  It can do wonders for our being, to get in touch with our inner self and give expression to our faith and beliefs. We need space to allow us to reflect on our life, on our day, what we want tomorrow to bring, where we can shed a tear, breathe a sigh of relief, quiet a troubled mind, savor a few victories or set goals.

Creating a sacred space and alter is a matter of finding a place in your home where you feel comfortable, safe, at peace and can be undisturbed. It is your time and space to do for just you, such as reflect, write, set goals, do affirmations, journal, meditate, relax, re-energize, set intentions or do rituals.   Take time to plan your private space and focus on what you intend its’ purpose to be.  Decorate the space with plants, artwork, pictures and mementos that bring you serenity, calmness and a sense of propriety.  Place a comfortable chair or cushions by your alter.  Your alter is personal and can be as simple or ornate as you feel you want it to be. It can be a corner of a dresser, a small table or a piece of furniture you own that has special meaning. You can add and remove objects at anytime, and as you wish. While away, just thinking about that sacred space can change your energy and state of being.
